Freda Wrench

As a visual artist my subject matter is diverse with inspiration coming from nature, humanity and music and the relationship one has to the other. I enjoy experimenting with various media but my favourite at this time is watercolor and acrylic ink. Their fluidity allows my painting to evolve spontaneously. I have a strong interest in figurative work which began at an early age, leading to my study of Fashion Design at George Brown College where I earned an honors Degree in Fashion Design. After working in this field for a few years I was drawn into the fine art world, which after about 50 years is still my passion.

My artistic education was achieved through workshops and evening classes and many hours of drawing and painting. I have participated in group and solo shows as well as studio tours throughout Ontario and Quebec. I was on the Headwaters Art Gallery committee in Alton for 10 years giving me the opportunity to jury artwork which taught me to look at my own work with a more critical eye.
